Reasonable doubt What for what; something for something; giving one valuable thing for another. Stipulation A certain time allowed by statute in which litigation must be brought. In criminal cases, prosecution is barred if not brought within the statute of limitations. Custody The right to or responsibility for a child's care and control, carrying with it the duty of providing food, shelter, medical care, education and discipline. Trial A judicial examination of issues between parties to an action. Estate A collective term meaning all real and personal property owned by a person.
